Court met pursuant to adjournment.

HENRY PALMER,

a witness called and sworn on behalf of the people, was examined in chief by Mr. Grinnell and testified as follows:

Q What is your name?

A Henry Palmer.

Q You are a police officer?

A Yes sir.

Q You made the arrest of Rudolph Schnaubelt?

A I did.

Q Do you remember when?

A It was either on the 6th or 7th day of May.

Q Where was he when you arrested him?

A In a machine shop at 224 East Washington street.

Q Where did you take him to?

A The central police station.

Q Did you converse with him?

A I did.

Q In what language?

A The only one I speak, the English language.

Q Did he speak English?

A He did.

Q Brokenly or otherwise?

A He spoke with decided foreeign accent, broken English.
