FRITZ STETTLER,

a witness called and sworn on behalf of the defendants, was examined in chief by Mr. Zeisler, mand testified as follows:

Q What is your name?

A Fritz Stettler.

Q Where do you reside?

A 1263 Pauline street.

Q That is Lake View, is it not?

A Yes sir.

Q Do you remember the night of May 4th?

A Yes sir, I do.

Q Where were you that night?

A I was down on Fullerton and Clybourne avenues, on the prairie.

Q What did you see and hear there?

A I seen a great many people around there.

Q Who were they?

A There was Deering's workingmen there.

Q Anybody talking to them there?

A Yes sir, Mr. Schwab was there.

Q Mr. Schwab, the defendant here?

A Yes sir.

Q Which one?

A There he is (indicating)

Q This man with the eye glasses?

A Yes sir.

Q What time was it that Mr. Schwab was talking there?

A About between nine and ten o'clock.

Q You heard the speech?

A Yes sir.
